Land Rehabilitation

Dr. Greg Barrett has experience in rehabilitation of severely disturbed land in arid areas, particularly where salinity is an important factor, and in sub-tropical environments. He has worked towards developing novel and low cost methods for severely salt-affected land, including the routine use of succulent chenopods in highly saline and/or waterlogged environments (see Ph.D. thesis).

His experience includes preparation of a revegetation guideline for Main Roads Western Australia, rehabilitation and closure plans for several mining operations in the Murchison region of Western Australia, rehabilitation and closure guidelines for a large Australian gold mining company, and Annual Environmental Reports for various mining and exploration operations.

Clients

Past clients include Newmont Australia, Main Roads Western Australia, GHD, Parsons Brinckerhoff Australia and numerous smaller mining operations in the Eastern Goldfields region (as Goldfields Environmental Management Pty Ltd).
